IBIX® uses and markets GMA
GARNET (Australian GARNET), an all-natural, chemically inert abrasive
mineral containing no toxic metals, silica or ferrite. This material
is, therefore, fully compliant with workplace safety and environmental
protection standards.
GMA-GARNET
consists of ALMANDITE garnet grains, one of the hardest, most durable
materials known to man. Thanks to low consumption (Kg / m²) and
high productivity (m² / h) GMA GARNET is ideal for efficient,
low-cost blasting of innumerable types of surface.
|
| |
|
GMA GARNET, because of the
high number of grains per unit of volume hitting the surface, provides
a very high “stripping” speed. Compared to traditional methods, this
speeds up cleaning work (i.e. more m² per hour) by up to 50-100%
(results depend on the type of surface being cleaned). The outcome is
increased productivity of both equipment and labour, with consumption
of blasting media being cut by 2/3 with respect to traditional
materials.

|
|
| |
GMA GARNET is extremely hard
(7.5-8.0 Mohs), extremely durable, has extremely low
friability/crumbliness and a high specific weight (4.1).
These superb qualities allow users to carry
out dry blasting
with GMA GARNET without any dust being generated.
Blasting performance
is excellent, resulting in uniform surface roughness without humps or
dips, thus preventing abrasive infiltration and rust spotting (the most
frequent sources of poor anti-corrosion coating results). SA3 blasting
standards are achieved effortlessly.
Because GMA GARNET contains no ferrite
and does not oxidize, it is
suitable for blasting Stainless Steel, Anti-magnetic steel, Aluminium
etc.
At lower particle sizes (200 and 350
Mesh) Garnet lets you clean
surfaces without damaging them and also gives an extremely smooth,
uniform finish: in short. the material is just perfect for a wide range
of uses on a wide range of surfaces.
GMA GARNET is 100% moisture-free and is
not hygroscopic, thus making the material even easier to use and stock.
Thanks to low friability, GMA GARNET can
be filtered and re-utilised 5 - 10 times (depending on the type of
application) without losing any of its outstanding stripping power.

| TECHNICAL CHART |
|
GMA GARNET (Australian Garnet) consists of grains of
AUSTRALIAN ALMANDITE – one the of the hardest, most durable minerals
known to man.
Ecological: thanks to its
non-toxicity Garnet falls well within maximum legal limits for
silicone, toxic and carcinogenic components as defined in environmental
protection standards (see Safety Technical Chart). That makes the work
cleaner, safer and healthier and – because work can be carried out at
low pressure - significantly lower noise levels.
- totally natural
- chemically inert
- does not contain any crystalline silicon
or any other carcinogenic components
- does not contain any toxic metals
- does not contain ferrite: DOES NOT
OXIDISE and can be used to blast STAINLESS STEEL, Anti-magnetic steel,
Aluminum etc.
- cuts disposal costs thanks to low
consumption.

GMA GARNET: PROPERTY
- Low consumption:
because it is an abrasive with a high stripping speed (high number of
grains per unit of volume) blasting speed is, in terms of m2/h, up to
50-100% higher than achievable with traditional methods and waste
is reduced up to 66%.
- Hardness
(7,5-8,0 Mohs) and durability, low crumbliness and high density make
GAM GARNET virtualy dust free; this gives higher quality blasting
results with an extremely uniform level of surface roughness/smootlness.
- Non-hygroscopic:
because it does not absorb humidity, product application and storgae
are even easier.
- Low friability:
depending on the specific application, can be reccycled 5-10 times
without losing its outstanding stripping speed.
